Reno has a great sense of community and is truly a place you can call home. Laura Turpack My move to Reno was originally going to be short term. I wanted to move out of Los Angeles as quickly as possible. The traffic and smog were eating away at me. I decided to try Reno since there were 15 ski resorts within an hour of the city. Four years later, I have decided to call Reno home. No traffic! No smog! And people are laid back here. And I can be in the mountains in 25 minutes, which makes it perfect for an early afternoon out of work. Keegan Bruemmer I came to Reno two years ago from the east coast seeking a great job and different type of lifestyle. I realized that I got both of those things after working a half day at the hospital and then driving up to the ski resort for a half day of tree skiing on my secret spot on the mountain. I realize how lucky I am to live in place that has the perfect balance of professional growth and the environment to deviate from the norm.
So, you've decided to seek out your inner Hybrid Self. Good call. Meet people who, like you, realize that there aren't necessarily trade-offs between career and interests, owning a home and having enough money left over for a life. This won't be a stuffy job fair, just a chance to meet and mingle with employers (and employees) with professional jobs in a place where when we're asked, "what do you do?" the typical answers are more like, "I like to ride my road bike over lunch" or "I've been working on hiking the entire Tahoe Rim trail one weekend at a time." And just by coming, you're doing good for the universe: for every 10 attendees, we'll donate to Keep Tahoe Blue--it is our backyard, after all.Check back from time to time for events featuring Greater Reno-Tahoe.
